Ezra Reich grew up in New York City has been performing and recording under his own name since 2002. Initially drawing influences from folk and Americana, Ezra Reich's music evolved into song oriented elecro-pop with the self-release of his first album "Freeze the Night" in the spring of 2003. Often musically compared to a contemporary mix of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, The Cars, Roy Orbison, and David Byrne, with a smattering of Prince and the Ronnettes, Reich's visual imagery and style are informed as much by the cinema of David Lynch, the paintings of James Rosenquist, and the photography of Helmut Newton. And imagery is important to Reich's art. His music has been called New Wave Cabaret and there is certainly a fun and epic theatrical quality to both his live show and recordings.

Reich is a much loved character on New York's Lower East Side circuit and he has played his colorful, masterfully crafted electro-pop at such hotspots as Pianos, Sin-é, Don Hills, Rothko, Tonic, Lit, Luxx, The Knitting Factory, Plaid and The Coral Room. Ezra Reich also appeared at the 2004 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX. While Reich plays most of the instruments on the recordings, his live band is made up of Elliot Glass and Marc DiCenzo on guitar, Brandon Owens on bass, and Eric Starr on drums.

In the summer of 2003, Ezra Reich was selected out of thousands of artists to be featured on AOL Music's First Break emerging talent showcase and the song 'Behind the Scenes' was available and downloaded thousands of times. The song was subsequently chosen inthe spring of 2004 as the theme for Tommy Hilfiger's national radio campaign promoting his "H" Line with David Bowie. Ezra Reich spent much of 2004 working on tracks for his second album "Milkshake Arcade" with co-producer Ron A. Shaffer (Ambulance Ltd., Tricky). Reich plays all of the keyboards on the album, as well as a mixture of other instruments, however it also features performances by Timo Ellis (Cibo Matto, Sean Lennon, Miho Hatori), Sharon Jones (Sharon Jones and the Daptones), and Nappy G (Turntables on the Hudson). The result is a fiercely unique ten-song record packed with addictive hooks, romance, electronics, female backed vocals, and danceable fun. - Description From His Own Home Page.

About His New Album:

Well thank God. Someone’s doing something right. From the jazzy hymn "Simplify" to the addictive catchiness of "In The Middle," Ezra Reich’s Milkshake Arcade is a cohesive set of polished tunes. Ezra’s delivery is reminiscent of Ric Ocasek’s deliberately hiccupping vocals. While the music draws comparisons to David Byrne and Roxy Music, one need not be a fan of either artist to enjoy Reich’s work. The energy of the performances on the recordings is excellent - he’s talented, sure, but it’s also obvious that he’s having a lot of fun here.
